DYSFUNCTION OF THE NASAL MUCOSA
We could speak of a dysfunction when the cilia are immobilised, and are therefore unable to evacuate the polluted mucous. The impurities accumulate at the surface of the mucosa.
This results in a thickening of the mucous. The cells tire out and must regenerate themselves.
This could lead to either congestion of the nasal mucosa(blocked or stuffy nose) or excessive secretion of mucous (runny nose).
