Global warming : what effect will it have on our health ?
A global temperature rise will have affect the levels of particles present in the air and their seasonal variation, whether they be natural such as plant pollen, or manmade, which can cause asthma attacks. The marked fluctuations in meteorological conditions in the short term may also have significant effects on health. In urban environments, in the absence of wind, the hot air and pollutants tend to stagnate, causing episodes of smog which have significant effects on health
Le réchauffement climatique et la santé [Global warming and health] Jean-Pierre BESANCENOT, Director of research at the CNRS, Climate and Health, Faculty of Medicine of Dijon :
(…) The climate can also have varied impacts on the respiratory system with, in particular, a spring and / or summer resurgence of rhinitis and asthma attacks, especially since a rise in temperatures will inevitably lead to the displacement of the zones of distribution of numerous plant species, many of which are highly allergenic, whilst the increased frequency of “fine weather" (hot, sunny, and dry), will increase the amount of pollen released into the atmosphere.
